Key Map of the Project
The Government of India had entrusted to the Authority the development, maintenance and management of National Highway No. 227 including the section from km 98.443 to km 129.965 (approx. 31.532 km). The Authority had resolved to augment the existing road from km 98.443 to km 129.965 (approximately 31.532 km) on the Meensurutti Chidambaram section of National Highway No. 227 (hereinafter called the “NH - 227”) in the State of Tamil Nadu by Two-Laning thereof (the “Project”) on design, build, operate and transfer (the “Hybrid Annuity”) basis, which shall be partly financed by the Concessionaire who shall recover its investment and costs through payments to be made by the Authority, in accordance with the terms and conditions to be set forth in a concession agreement to be entered into.
Accordingly, The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), an Autonomous body under The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRT&H) invited Requests for Proposal (RFP) for short listing of Bidders for above Road. Accordingly, M/s. Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd – RNS Infrastructure Ltd (JV). Submitted their bid on 16-12-2019 and became Successful bidder and the LOA was Issued on 23rd October 2020.
M/S Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd – RNS Infrastructure Ltd (JV) has promoted and incorporated M/s Sunway RNSIL MC Private Limited., a limited liability company as the Concessionaire to undertake and perform the obligations and exercise the rights of the selected bidder under the LOA for executing the project. The Concession Agreement (CA) between the concessionaire and NHAI was signed on 11th December 2020.
The Concessionaire has appointed M/S Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd and M/S RNS Infrastructure Limited as Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) Contractor and signed the EPC.
NHAI has appointed M/s URS Scott Wilson India Private Limited in Association with SITC as the independent Engineer (IE) to review drawings and documents; review, inspect, and monitor the Construction Works; conduct Tests on completion; issue Completion / Provisional Certificate; determine costs of any works or services; determine the extension of time, etc. in a fair, impartial and efficient manner with the highest standards of professional integrity and good industry practice.
NHAI has appointed M/s Chaitanya Projects Consultancy Pvt Ltd as a Safety Consultant for the Project.
